A new state. A new house. A new CAREER.
There’s a lot of backstory that I won’t bore you with but, basically, I’m starting over career-wise. I was a work from home mom. I spent 15 years working remotely for a family friend’s non-profit. I had additional work during that time, too, that paid some bills. I loved my job but it was time to dissolve.
I’ve spent the last few months thinking about the next step. My husband has a fabulous job, but we would certainly benefit from a second income, especially in California. Because of certain situations with the move, I am unable to take a full-time job right now. Plus, I enjoy being available for my girls for these precious few years left before they are off on their own.
So, the question was – do I pursue something I love or something to pay the bills? There are pros and cons to both.
I have professional passions – real estate, law enforcement, education, and the environment. I have a Bachelors in Justice Studies and it’s truly a love. I could get a very nice paying job as a dispatcher but the hours would be tough. Loving the environment doesn’t really pay the bills without formal education. Real estate fits my passion, my parenting style, and can be lucrative. It’s also a huge gamble. I am currently working at a school part-time, but it’s hard to get those full-time positions. So I look and look, and hope to find the right fit.
Here we go!
